State Employee Needing Assistance

State Employee Needing Assistance

hello president. how are you? i hope well. well straight to the point i know that you are a very busy man. well, i am 23 years old and i am a state employee of north carolina. i work for nc a& T state university and back in august, 2009 i was put on restrictions on my job by my doctor (for the condition of having left side lost of feeling on my body, which i later found out that i have two bulging disc in my back that is tapping my nerves causing the lost of feeling that i will have to have phsical therapy on my back and legs to obtain normal function). but when i went to work my job would not allow me to work because there wasnt a job to do within my restrictions. they also informed me that they could not find me a job within the university due to the state hiring freeze. so i was forced to apply for family medical leave which in return only helped to hold my position until i returned. and the only way for me to continue to get paid was to have leave time, in which i did not have. so the other option was to get shared leave in which i did not get enough so now i am 250+ hours in the rear. so now that i couldnt get my shared leave nor did i have leave of my own i was put into non payment status from my job. which means i am no longer getting paid by my employer. due to the fact that i am in non payment status with my emloyer, they can no longer take my payment for my health insurance out of my check becuase i am not recieving one. as a result of that i have to pay for my health insurance out of pocket along with the employers matching. because i am not recieving a check i have no income coming in i cant afford to pay my insurance nor the employer's matching which results in the termination of my health insurance. so without health insurance i cant visit my doctor nor can i get the phsical therapy that i need to get my strength back in my legs and back to be able to perform at normal state. without my phsical therapy i cant be able to perform my job at the required ability. the state will not help me get any health insurance due to the fact that i dont have any children. due to the fact that my job placed me on medical leave because they could not find work for me within my restrictions i was told by the north carolina employment commission that i could apply for unemployment benefits but my case would be labeled under lay off status because my employer had the lack of work for me within my restrictions. but when i applied my employer denied my claim so i cant get assistance from the employment commission. i had previously applied for short term disability but i was made aware that it was only two doctors on the medical board for north carolina and that it would take until feburary for me to know if i was approved or denied for benefits. so with all that being said i was wondering what i could do as a state employee to receive help financially and health insurance wise to become better health wise so that i can be productive in today's society as i was before as a normal 23year old. thanks alot, keshia crite
