Fed-Ed extension benefits

May
04

Dear President Barack Obama:

I'm 26 and had the honor of voting for you in 2008. You were the first candidate for president I was actually EXCITED to vote for.

I've been a top student my whole life, despite coming from a less than prosperous upbringing. Education was my key to any door - and now those doors are fast closing. For the better part of the last 18 months, I've been trying to find a career to replace the one I lost to outsourcing. Two weeks ago, I began the Fed-Ed extension program. As you probably guessed my search for work was not successful. I was told a month ago I had an additional 20 weeks to essentially find work outside of my chosen career path. Now that I have begun that search, I received a notice that benefits will be ending (from time of notice) in 2 weeks! This was both unexpected and (i believe) not delineated properly in the legislation now being used to end FED-ED.

How can it be that the unemployment rate has increased to 11%, and yet legislators citing one year ago as 'slightly worse' to justify ending the program. If this was always a possibility, then I guess my comprehension of EDD policy was not up to par.

Whatever the cause, please consider those of us who are relying on this subsidy as a last resort in finding work in what has been a trying time for all.

Respectfully,
Hopeful Citizen Read more about Fed-Ed extension benefits

H1B ,L1B reform needed and oppose HR 3012

Feb

Mr President,

I am writing to you to inform about the big frauds going on in the H1b visa and L1B visa. These visas are in high demand in India and are abused. The so called high skilled workers who come on this visa from India are just average people with a bachelor's degree from some below average universities there. They come through the Indian body shopping company like Infosys,Wipro,TCS and they are big abusers of this visa. They even encourage the employees to fake their resume to show more years of experience and show they are qualified. They are depressing the wages of the American citizens because of the flood of cheap labor available.

These people work over time without any wages and do not complain as they want to stay here to obtain a green card. This makes the work environment horrible for all the others as the managers keep deadlines for delivery project in short time span. They work on weeekends to deliver the project and they don't get paid for overtime. Even the employers post H1b only advertisement for jobs. My husband had applied for a  position in his old company as he wanted to change departments and his manager told that the job was reserved for an h1b candidiate who was working there on a project. It was completely reserved for him and they did not intend to take anybody else, the advertisement was just published for LCA for h1b showing no qualified citizen is available.

The IT field wages are depressing because of the H1b foreign labor who are mostly bachelors with entry level experience. 4 or 5 of them cram in an apartment with the salary they get. These are the same guys who apply for green card in the employment based green card EB3 and hence the backlog. They are not very highly skilled. If they have a master degree from US, I can say its good to retain those people. But even that is questionable to some extent as some of the Indians show big fraud there too . By eliminating the country cap under HR 3012, it is a disaster as all the people getting green cards are only from india and China who are mainly in IT.

There will be big shoratge in other fields included under highly skilled. The Indians and chinese will monopolise the IT field and it will be very difficult for the American citizens there. It is not good to give favorability for one nation over the others, especially to Indians who are very corrupt. They do lot of fraud to evade taxes.  What I am trying to say is H1b and Hr 3012 are connected, one problem leading to the other. There should be a country cap on h1b too, this will prevent a lot of fraud, as the major fraud is committed by indians who come on H1b,L1b faking their resumes and then applying for a green card.  Also, Senator Grassley's h1b reforms will be very helpful to protect the US citizens.

I hope you will look into this matter.

Thank You Read more about H1B ,L1B reform needed and oppose HR 3012

Jobs For The People

Jan

Dear Mr. President,

I am writing to plead in you to open your closed eyes and see what is becoming of our country. I have been out of work for 1 year and 9 months, I search several times a day for job listings in my area. When something new comes up I apply for the position, only to find out that fifty other men and women have also applied for this one position. You are our President, you are our leader, you promised to create jobs for this country when you where running for office, where are those promised jobs? And I am not talking about minimum wage jobs that my children apply for. We need jobs to support our families, pay our mortgages, send our children to school, jobs that we can retire from. Create jobs that we can be proud to work. You need to put yourself in our (American people) shoes.  You wanted the job you fill, you are being paid by the American people it’s your duty to create jobs for us.

                                                                                     Sincerely,
                                                                                     Kristie

Jobs in Michigan

Dec
12

Dear Mr. President,

I currently am a student in engineering at the University of Michigan.  My school has a top notch program which set's its students up for the automotive industry.  However it seems like automotive industry is still struggling to recover.  This industry used to be promising for American workers and held a steady portion of the economic market.  Lately most business has been heading overseas.  I ask you what you have done to prevent jobs from leaving this country and crossing the pond over into Asia?  And with the recent Fiat takeover from Chrysler, I just don't see the government support.  As president you strive to make this a better country but this country is falling behind in research and development.  Most of the technicalogical advances are coming from other countries and again there is no support within the United States.  So if our jobs are being outsourced and new technologies are being developed elsewhere, how is the United States better off?

Sencerely,

Tom Read more about Jobs in Michigan

A bit of honesty

Dec
09

Dear President Obama,

I doubt that you will ever read this but I will write it anyways. These past few years have been chaotic to say the least. The government and the country are on the brink of a breakdown. The people are oppressed and becoming restless as you have probably already noticed. I am quite aware that you were left a mess when you entered office and that you are not the cause of most of this mess. Mr. Obama, this country needs a leader, more than ever. You can make all the speeches in the world, but it will not fix the unrest amongst the people. The fact is, we are poor, but the leaders of this country are not. These comfortable "leaders" are sitting around arguing over what OUR financial fate is going to be.  The people on the news channels and the celebrities who voice their opinions, are the ones being heard... They too are not suffering financially. This makes many feel uneasy, and I am quite sure that you can understand that.

Everyday people are losing their homes and jobs that they have had for years. The  traditional American dream is gone and our children are suffering. The new American dream is that of survival. Their education and financial futures  are in you and your constituate's hands. Passing frivilous bills that are not solving the key issues. I fully comprehend that these issues cannot be so simply taken care of, but quarreling over them in your conference rooms are not doing any good. Occupy Wallstreet movement is a cry for help and the canary in the coalmine Mr. President.

They are doing it all wrong in my opinion, but American people feel so powerless that they feel that they must resort to such primitive actions in order to get the attention of the world and our government. Our forefathers would look at us now and shake their heads. This is not what they struggled for. As cliche as it does indeed sound, it is the truth. We, the people, are vulnerable, just like the people of post WWI Germany. An extreme example, but a valid one. We are down on our luck and though we haven't had a our right to a military taken from us, we are indebted to other countries( many of whom control large amounts of our financial market). Outsourcing has killed our economy Mr.President.  Not only has it taken away jobs but it has caused world-wide mistreatment of fellow human beings. Corporations, many of them corrupt( not a misconception) do whatever they can to really cheat the citizens of this country and even worse in others. Alas. nothing happens to these people.

They just look down at us and tell us that "It's a dog-eat-dog world". We really are the 99% and they are the 1% who are not suffering. I do not resent success in others, but I do resent success that has sprouted from dishonesty. The citizens of this country once believed and trusted the government to protect them from things like this. Stealing from the poor and giving to the off-shore bank accounts. While many are on welfare and wondering where their next meal for the children is going to come from, your constituents are taking their weekend trips to Martha's Vineyard. THIS is wrong. There is no justification for this economic system. Louis and Antoinette come to mind.

Greed runs this country Mr. President. So as you sit in the White House with your world class chefs and as your children attend private school while other children receive minimal educations, they will not listen. Your children will be able to go to the best colleges and what about ours?

I know that you as well as the government could never take a stand against the corporations because they are so intertwined in political matters. It's not conspiracy, it is the truth. We our losing our freedoms because of the greed of others who we cannot reach. I am one of many. The people believe that they are powerless, but I refuse to accept that. I believe in the power of intellect and the undying spirit of unity. UNITY... This is what we need. Committees sitting around arguing will not fix what has gone wrong.

Right now, the people need to feel as if they are being heard. We want to be heard and we want to be in control of our own fate as a country. As a people, we have a right to do this, but are not allowed to do so.

Soon I will probably have nowhere to live as I cant pay my rent. Im desparate and dont know what to do. Ive worked all my life  and payed my taxes.I believe in my country and for what it stands for. I also believe you have been the only president that has really understood the real problems our nation faces.Who can I turn to for help? Please reply If you can.

The 99ers and Congress

Nov

Mr. President,

I'm 51 years old. My company decided to close their office in south carolina by email and moved the operation to dubai. This all happened last year, my emeployment ran out on sep 4th of this year and now things are reallh hitting the fan. I've lost everything but God in my life but I still go out whenever someone will lend me his car, yes I lost that too. Mr. President I know your not responsible for this mess and I see where your trying everything in your limited power to help those of us who have paid taxes all our life and now need help. Im just disgusted that congress is not willing to help us, the 99ers, I realize they think we should have found a job by now even though the reports show we are being discriminated against.

I also see the unjust way you are treated on the house floor. Life is crazy for a lot of people at this point and Im glad to see your standing tall against all odds. I'm proud of you and your family. Is their is any way to contact the people that would be affected by raising their taxes and ask them if they are willing to help america by taking an extra load at this time. You may find a lot of those people in congress who would fit in that income range? lol . Maybe I can go to one of the countries we are supporting and get assistance their? what do you think?   We need help sir. Its very simple. I hear in the news your are about to pass the veterans bills which I think is great but they have some type of income dont they? I / we have none.

We, 99ers now have to contend for jobs with those that are coming home from the military and they get first dibs, wow. We need help sir. if given a chance with the additional funds purposed under the 99ers request i would use that retro active funds to buy a really cheap car and launch my website to to start my own business to  insure this never happens to me again regardless of the economy. We need help sir... Read more about The 99ers and Congress
