Healthcare Struggle with Cancer

Aug
09

Dear Mr. President Obama

My name is Amanda Collins and I am disgusted with the healthcare situation, my brother Brett had stage 3 cancers and it’s not the fact he didn’t have coverage, but it was a limited policy covering only $3000.00. by Brett being 21, he didn’t know and thought if you have insurance you should be covered, Brett’s first visit to the emergency room exhausted his benefits, leaving him with no insurance, now his treatment has been basically been put on the back burner, he did receive chemo for 5 day a week for 2 months, had tumors removed, but now needs other treatment.  He is on oxygen and has had 4 blot clots in his lungs, he also needs another surgery.

My problem is why isn’t a person who is diagnosed with cancer given state funded insurance right away?? When we give children who are born in this country illegal insurance, we also give them food stamps?? I feel as though a person with this illness should be given attention as soon as the problem is diagnosed and not put on a waiting list. Some people might not have 90-120 days.

My mother has been his voice, but what about the people who have no one, no insurance, nothing, who is there voice, my brother is 21, has his whole life on hold, and living in the united states, it makes me sick that he has been a tax payer, working two jobs, and now he cant work, cant get benefits and now has disease that can destroy a persons being.   My brother is my hero, as he has remained in good spirits and takes everyday as another day to get better, hasn’t even said “why me”, he never feels sorry for himself. So you tell me why people who have cancer running through there body and may loose the fight shouldn’t be given state insurance right away, why make getting state insurance another thing to fight for??   My mother has made a box of all the bills that come in on a daily basic, the amount of money that he s owe’s is rediculis, why should he have to worry about this??? I don’t get it. Give me a reason.

This weekend he was in so much pain and didn’t want to tell anyone cause he knew it would be another visit to the er, which means another bill, my mother made him go, as she saw how much pain he was in, when he got to the er, he was given oxygen, and had ct scans done, which showed that his chest was filled with fluid, the doctors explained it as “he was drowning in his own body”. They had to cut him and drain all the fluid.   My mother sent me a picture of my brother thru the phone and he had a smile and his thumb up. How can anyone deny my brother?   In my eyes he is still a little boy, with his whole life in front of him, he was planning to go to college, now everything has been put on hold just like his medical care.   I wish I could do something instead of writing this letter, but I don’t know what to do, I also have worked my whole life two jobs, one being in the medical field, and I get so mad when I see illegal people who haven’t paid anything in to the system get the benefits that we have worked for what gives them the rights over my brother???   I hope this letter finds someone to help people who need help really get it. The cancer society can only do so much.  I thank the hospital and the doctors that have helped my brother I just wish it could be easier.   If some one could help me or guide me in the right direction to help my brother it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely A sister fighting for her brother Amanda Collins

My Mother, Age 100, July 13, 2010

Jul
13
My mother, Helen Marble, is 100 years old, She was born, July 13,1910. Yesterday was her 100th birthday, July 13, 1910.    She is the healthiest 100 year old I have ever met. In fact, I don't even know anyone who is 100.  She has her complete facilities, sharp as a pin and I sometimes wonder if she will outlive me.  I am one of her daughters, age 71.  Her parents both died when she was 25 years old and below you will see all she has done over the years.   Her current address is:   Heather Hills Estates 205 48th Avenue Terrace West Bradenton, FL  34207-2635 941-756-6296     She has volunteered for years playing the piano for such places as the Manatee Convalescent Home, St. George's Church and has served as an accompanist for various singing groups and kitchen bands.   Her hometown is Ardmore, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia.  While in high school, she took courses at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music and graduated from both at the same time.   She followed that with a course at Temple University, also in Philadelphia, and graduated with a B.S. degree, majoring in music with a minor in art.   Her education continued with courses at Columbia University in New York.  She began her teaching career at a Quaker School in Riverton, N.J. where she taught music and art in grades 1 to 8.   She was the first person allowed to play an organ for a Quaker wedding ceremony in that area.  During the summer, she taught arts and crafts at the Sea Pines Camp at Brewster, Mass.   She was married to her first husband who had been a classmate of hers at Temple University.  They have four children.  All this time, Helen continued giving piano lessons.  When the children were grown, she began to play the organ for restaurants in different parts of the country - suburbs of Phila, along the east coast - anywhere she could still be close to her family.  It was in this way that she then went to Florida playing in the different restaurants on the beach, including the Bradenton-Sarasota area.  In 1956 Helen came to Sarasota and married her second husband.    After four years, Helen began to work at the Sarasota Maas Bros. store, in the carpeting and decorating department, until her retirement in 1972.  This was when she began her volunteer work.   She has played at the Oneco Methodist Church in Bradenton for five years.  Along with her volunteer work, she has also completed a course of "Master Gardening" at the Manatee County Agricultural Extension Center in Palmetto, where she did volunteer work once a week.  This is an entirely different effort for her since she is qualified to answer questions of thousands of people who called about plants, gardens, trees, etc. and sent out free brochures and pamphlets.   Other RSVP volunteer work took her to Bay Legal Services, as a clerk aid in Mrs. Mildred Higgins' office, at Manatee Opportunity Council and entertainment for Project Hearth, HRS Client Parties and Community Senior Centers.  She is a member of the Hammond Organ Society.   Along with all this, her second husband died and she then married a third time.  This marriage lasted many years until her third husband died.    She can still walk by herself, takes an aspirin a day (her doctor's orders) which she would rather not and also a pill for osteoporosis.  She takes a lot of vitamins which she says keeps her going!!!  She also rode her three wheel bike until two years ago when someone stole the trike.  Her doctor said she better not get a new one because she might fall and you know what it is like for a person to fall at that age.       A couple of months ago some gentlemen wanted to go out with her and her comment to him was "I have already buried three husbands, do you want to be my fourth??   She will be visiting with me for a month (she still flys in an airplane) (Near the Poconos in PA) and will go with me to the Senior Citizen Center to play the piano for all the older people.  They are thrilled that she is coming.  Below is my mother, sister, age 69 and me.  Looks like the picture didn't come out.   I can send a picture to you if you want.    I also have a video of her playing the organ about three weeks ago. Would you like me to send you this video?  She won't answer the phone until she knows who is calling so wait for the answering machine to stop and then she will answer the phone.

Where is the change

Jun

Dear Mister President I am fully disgusted with the route our country is traveling. I do not see any improvement pertaining to the way that our lawmakers legislate now or before you took office. They certainly do not have the general welfare or fairness for the populous of the country in their decisions or lack of decisions which ever the case may be as they navigate our ship through Congress. The ship belongs to the populous, the people, not to you or our lawmakers. Your job and their job is to see that fairness and a reasonable way of life for the majority of the people of the country is achieved. What I see is special interests getting the big piece of the pie and the small people, as the populous is referred to by BP, receiving the crumbs if any crumbs are allowed by greedy lawmakers and even more gluttonous special interests. We have close to three million men and women locked up in this country. The reason given is because we are a nation of laws. You can add the total monetary value of all crimes of the convicts incarcerated today and you will not come close to the figure of the robbery of money from the people by insurance companies, bankers and oil companies who have stolen from the hard working people of this once great country. Yes I say once. We are still the greatest society in the world, however we are on a crash course to a disaster of some sort because of the greed of money instead of common sense and decency. There should be no reason why we are not number one in medicine, education, technology and human rights. Can you truthfully say that we are number one in any of these categories? What a shame and waste of resources. The people that should be locked up are the ones that perpetrate or make our laws for their own personal gain at the expense of the people. The list is way to long to name, but, I am sure that you have a pretty good idea who those people happen to be. Could you please enlighten me why Attorney General Eric Holder has not prosecuted anyone from the banking fiasco or any lawmakers for their shenanigans from the time you took office. There are plenty of laws broken by them every day. I guess if you have money or are prominent you do not go to jail in the United States of America. Almost all of the three million men and women in jail are poor or of minority decent or both. I am not talking about violent criminals they are where they belong. I am talking about the injustice thrown upon the poor people of this great country. We have immigration laws but they are not enforced. If you are not going to enforce them or any other law then why not remove them from the books. Why do we not crack down on employers who hire illegal immigrants? You will put someone in jail for stealing from a 7-11, smoking pot or doing other drugs even Martha Stewart for lying. If you locked everyone up in Washington who has lied under oath that would be a step in the right direction. Also for being drunk in public or protesting for their rights could very easily land them in jail. You of all people should know the importance of upholding our laws and that means all of our laws not just the ones that are convenient. They are on the books because our government put them there. If we are to be law abiding citizens they must be enforced or remove from the books. Mr. President I did not vote for you but after you were elected I supported you. It seemed to me that you had some pretty good ideas. As time goes on I am beginning to have second thoughts. I know that you were dealt a pretty bad hand when you took over the reins. But at some time you need to start righting the wrongs not to put band aids on them. Health Care is important and yes you got a bill passed but it doesn't really change the climate of the industry or solve many of the problems and will most likely create more problems than it solves. The banking community is on a roll and the bill passed last night is a total joke there are very few provisions for the people and the majority of the bill will allow the hoggish bankers to continue business as usual. The wars, we need to get out, there has to be a better way to keep terrorism in-check. Not one United States soldier, air person, navy or Marine death is justifiable under the conditions that now exists in the Middle East. Why do people who have greed and lust for power believe that they can show the behavior they have shown in the last ten or so years and get away with such behavior? Because we allow them to keep doing so. I thought you were going to stop them. Are you? Respectfully Gary Bruce Dutton 1201 US HWY 1 Suite 42 North Palm Beach, FL 33408 410-322-9972

I need help with Health Insurance

Jun

Dear Mr. President, I am writing this letter out of pure desperation, I am disabled and I am receiving Social Security Disability. I had SSI until November 2009 and February 28, 2010 my medicaid exspired because I am not reiceiving SSI anymore. Now Medicaid put me in a share of cost program that is based on my SS income, meaning my cost is $911.00 monthly. If my medical exspense equals or goes over then medicaid would cover my medical and prescriptions. But my doctor visit and medicine per month is $856.00 so they are not covering anything!!! I only receive $1.118.00 Social Security Benefits per month, my rent is $800.00, my electric is $150.00 or above, my Car Insurance is $49.00 per month, so that does not leave me a lot of money. I only receive $16.00 for Food Stamps per month. How can I afford my doctor or my medicine every month. I am diagnosed with fibromyalgia, severe depression and a really bad spine I have a herniation in my lower back that pinches my nerve canals right grater then left and a herniation in my neck also pressuring my nerve canals, I got a bone hematoma in my L3 and 4 other bulging disks and a mass (cyst) in my spinal cord, the doctors say that I may have MS. But the spinaltap test on that is too exspensive I can't affort this. I can't barely purshase my needed medicine every month. I only fill the most needed medicine per month. I am eligible for medicare but they are not enrolling me until October 2010. Please I don't know what to do or who to ask for help. The prescription discount drug card I have does not save a lot of money. Please I BEG you for help. I used to be a hard worker always a go getter, I had my own Construction Business for 5 years until everything fell apart. The stress, problems and drama from this made my illness cronic. I am a legal resident and I always worked and paid my taxes and had people employed. So now I lost everything including my health. I am so proud that you are our president and if I would be allowed to vote I would have voted for you. You are a very unique and special person because you care. Please I hope that my letter will reach your eyes. I know you very special and an enlightened person I wish I could tell you all this in person. But I can't afford to travel to Washington, I would do anything to shake your hand or if it would be allowed give you a big hug. Your wife is so special to and you both have a very special partnership (mariage). I thing you know that we are all connected. I will try to reach you via phone but I am not sure if they let me talk to you. In hopes to hear back from you soon. Sincerley, Petra Johnson 13832 Priest Court Orlando, FL 32826 407-504-5318 jmasterpiece@hotmail.com   P.S.: Please contact me back please I need your help, PLEASE!!!!

Hamp progam is taking my home

Jun

Never was late in a payment, for 20 years, paid 1,200 on time, time every month, time are are tough and thought maybe with my reduced income i would enroll in the Hamp program, through my mortgage company Wells Fargo, and maybe receive a reduced intrest or payment, Sent in all paperwork, tons of it, receive a trial period payment of 620.00 a month, paid on time for 4 months, Bank says after 4 months unable to create an afforable payment equal to 31% of monthy gross income without changing the terms of your loan beyond the requirements of the program. Now I'm receiving letters and phone calls that my mortgage is in default, accerlaton to foreclosere is in place. I was never late in payments, and have 3 years left on my mortgage. my home is worth 400,00 and i owe 30,000. They are trying to take my home while in the Hamp program. This has affected my credit, late fees, Wells fargo does not care if your in the program. they  say I'am in review for alternative loss mitigation solutions, maybe for inhouse, people really have no clue. Collections are calling my home now and acceleration is in process due to Hamp program. I could lose my home because of this after paying 20 years, with over 80% equity, This program is taking away homes from hard working people. i can not beleive this could happen in America with the Goverment and a reputable Bank, What is happening? HAMP Program and our Mtg with Wells Fargo

Dear President, I know that we are one of many. A family of 4, 2 young girls, a husband who has been laid off, and a wife that is an independant contractor who does not make enough money to support the family!  We have been trying to get our loan with Wells Fargo modified for over a year, only to find out yesterday that we are not approved!  We are at a breaking point emotionally, physically and finanically and we honestly do not know where else to turn but to the very top!  WE NEED HELP.  We do not want to lose our home.  By our honesty in trying to work with our mortgage company, they have denied us!  It seems we have to default on our mortgage before any help will be administered!  I could write a much longer letter about all of our woes, but I won't.  Just simply, PLEASE HELP US!!  My family is precious, my home is precious, and, we are trying to make an honest living and show our darling girls how to live with honesty. Can someone call us or e-mail us and let us know what to do, Our mortgage company Wells Fargo is not being cooperative. Fix oil leak, this should really work!!

Jun
01
Dear Mr. President, I already submitted an idea to warm the seawater to stop the hydrate problem, but here is a easy solution. Use a SCISSOR JACK that has been modified slightly, insert with robotic arm, open jack inside pipe until held tightly in place against interior of pipe wall. SOME oil and gas may flow through the jack, but this will DRAMATICALLY reduce the pressure, use ANOTHER jack after inserting the first one to FURTHER REDUCE pressure, then cap the remaining flow easily. Using a similar approach, fire a conical shaped device into the pipe (imagine and umbrella upside down with pressure pushing it against the inside of the pipe) with flanges that will open and be held in place by the pressure of the oil and gas. The more pressure, the stronger the hold in the pipe, repeat as needed to reduce pressure and then cap well. You may contact me at: frankcewing@yahoo.com Frank Ewing   Key West, FL 33040

FIREFIGHTERS IN DANGER

May
22
Dear President Obama, I am sending you this email to see if there is anything that the White House can do to prevent our City Manager, Ken Parker of Port Orange FL 32128 from cutting our fire department staff and station closures. As a citizen of the city of Port Orange I feel that there is a need for your office to become involved with saving our fire department personnel and find out why the City Manager, Ken Parker refuses to let the fire administration apply for the Safer Grant and also pay attention to the new NIST study. Here are the laws for it and also an incident that almost cost one of our firefighters lose his life while on a motor vehicle accident. Could you please ask Mr. Parker to answer the citizens as to why SAFER Grants were not approved for submittal? This is free federal money given to fire departments for the exact need our city is facing. Mr. Parker is threatening to cut six firefighter positions and reduce staffing/manpower while he enjoys a 5% retroactive raise. Is that logical? With EVAC's response delays, how can Mr. Parker justify a reduction in how our public safety departments respond to calls. Mr. Parker is forcing our Firefighters to risk their lives. Firefighters have a 2-in, 2-out rule of safety. This means that anytime there is not a life safety measure on the line, there must be two firefighters outside to rescue or relieve the two personnel on the inside. When life safety is an issue, such as a person who might be inside of a burning building, Mr. Parker is forcing our firefighters to risk their lives in an unnecessary heroic effort to pull a person out of a burning building without insuring the firefighter's own safety. If there are only two firefighters on a truck, who both have to go in to a burning building for a rescue, who will be on the pump panel ensuring there is adequate water going to the crew saving that person's life? Why is Mr. Parker insistent on going backwards? The County Fire services have fought so hard to work their way up to the standard our city currently has. In the past, they have been looked at as substandard because they had reduced staffing. Is that what Mr. Parker is wishing to give the citizens of Port Orange, substandard services? Clearly, when you forgo the opportunity to obtain free federal money to support the quality of services you can provide to your citizens, and threaten layoff's, it makes a person wonder what kind of deal Mr. Parker has made and with who because in the end it just doesn't add up. 6% wage reductions for firefighters, yet he accepts a raise? Joe Carrisquillo just put his life on the line. He is just a firefighter. He doesn't hold a gun, he doesn't wear a bullet proof vest. All he has is his bunker gear. When he saw a citizen in need he didn't think about his salary reduction or how the city would take away the benefits he has worked so hard for, he did what every firefighter does, he responded to the call of a citizen in need. Joe had a gun pulled on him and pointed to his chest. He very nearly lost his life that day. There's a reason firefighters are considered high risk, this was just a tiny example of why. Just something to think about. Thank you for your time and consideration into this matter President Obama and I look forward to hearing from you or one of your staff to look into this most disturbing chain of events by the City Manager, Ken Parker.       Cathy McNa, Port Orange FL 32128 386-767-6993 386-341-9260 cpuggys@msn.com
