your quote "to much has been given, much is demanded"

Mr. President,

I respectfully disagree with your interpretation of the phrase "to much has been given, much is demanded" found in Luke 12:48. This chapter didn't say anything about government and taxes.  Rather Jesus was teaching Christians that if they are blessed, it is their responsibility to use these blessings to help others. Jesus always focused his teachings on the responsibilities of individuals to help the less fortunate not the government. Just think if everyone gave 10% or more of their monies to their church and/or legitimate charities how many people we could help?  The only time Jesus spoke of  taxes and government was in Luke 20:25 when Jesus said "to give to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and give to God the things that are God's." God never intended for government to take care of the poor and needy but rather that was a responsibility of those who followed his teachings.
