Merry Christmas President Obama,
May GOD Keep You, Bless You and continue to Order Your Steps!
My name is Kasi Crawford and I'm a single mother of two children. My daughter A'meerah is 16 and my son Rashaan is 14. I'm writing you out of desperation and frustration. I lost my job October 22, 2010. I've been receiving unemployment since then and have exhausted my 12 weeks of the State Extended Benefits on December 22, 2012. I've been consistently looking for a job, applying to 25-50 jobs per day. I have not received any job offers to date. I've have also applied for minimum wage jobs and have been told that I'm over qualified for these positions. I've worked since I was 14 years old. I became divorced in 2002. My ex-husband does not pay the child support that was ordered through the state of Georgia. He is behind over $40,000 dollars and resides in another state, which has been a challenge to the state of Georgia to enforce it. I've exhausted all means of trying to collect the support that is owed to my children.
President Obama, I'm pleading and soliciting you for help at this time to extend my unemployment. Currently, I'm receiving $283 dollars of food stamps. I'm scared and mentally drained. I'm a hard working woman who is just trying to support my children. My rent is due on or before January 5th, 2012. If my rent is not paid on or before January 15th, I will be faced with eviction. The thought of being homeless sends chills through my spine and hurts to no end. The $328.00 dollars that I was receiving allowed me to maintain and provide a home for my children, allowing them to continue to grow and focus on school. I have never struggled so much in my life. I believe in you Mr. President, but it angers me that the banks and large corporations received Bail Outs, when We the PEOPLE, who supported you are loosing our jobs, homes and sanity. I'm in tears writing you this letter at 2:27 am on Christmas Day. I am a Faithful woman and I do believe in Miracles. I wasn't able to buy my children anything for Christmas. I thank GOD that they understand what their mother is going through and acknowledges the true meaning of Christmas. All I want for Christmas is to have my unemployment benefit extended until I'm able to find employment so that I can continue to take care of my children.
Mr. President, I'm begging you to re-consider the bill that was passed on December 16, 2011. “Legislation has been enacted to extend the eligibility period of Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC), and State Extended Benefits (SEB), through the week ending December 31, 2011. The new bill did not add more weeks of benefits, but extended the period of time someone could file for EUC or SEB”. It only extends people two additional months that receive Emergency Unemployment Compensation and extends the deadline to apply for (SEB). It does not extend the State Extended Benefits which is what just ended for me. Please have compassion in your heart for me and the people that this bill impacts. I'm at my wits end and trying desperately not to give up. I believe in you and I support you as the President of these United States of America. Please reply to the address below.
God Bless,
Kasi
