Federal Law Cost Me My Job

Apr
18

Dear Mr. President,

I am a limousine driver in the Cleveland Ohio area. I was recently involved in a traffic accident back on February 12, 2012. In the accident I was side swiped by another driver making a right turn from the far left lane of the road. The police officer that responded was very nice and did his job thoroughly. I have now come to find out the the accident has been reported on my Ohio BVM Driver abstract and will remain there for the next 2 years. It does not list any points, tiickets, etc. Simply that I was a involved party in an accident. This has since cost me my job, because I'm told that I am not insurable on the company policy anymore because of being involved in the accident. I contacted the Ohio BMV on Wednesday April 18th, 2012 and was told that there is no way to remove this entry and it will remain on there for the next 2 years from the date of the incident. I was told that having to report this on my drivers abstract is federal law and there is nothing the state can do about it. Because of this law, I am now unemployed. Why am I being penalized for something that I had no control over, had no wrong doing in, and was not sighted for anything.???

Is there anything that you, your office, and/or the government can do or suggest to help me in this situation? I am more than willing to work and want to work full time, but because of this, I am now another statistic of unemployment AND since being listed as a independent contractor (i.e. self employed) am not even entitled to any benefits, etc.

Please help.

Government Trust

Feb
15

President Obama,

I will be honest. I have never voted for a democratic candidate. However, I think the entire government machine is broke, and it is time to look past party lines. I would vote for a candidate that could build trust in this country. Why doesn't the general public trust our government officials. They don't have to live by the same rules. 1) Insider trading in congress. 2) They don't have to pay into social security, 3) They don't have to use the new "Obama Care." They criticized the automotive industry for flying their private plans to ask for a bailout. But is our government doing the same thing.

Why would we want to vote for anyone that is going to create laws that they don't have to live by. If the retirement plan, and current health care plan for the US Senate is good enough for our Senators, why is not good enough for the general public? I don't think I would be alone by saying that I would vote for a president that would fight for the general public. However, I think it will be an independent candidate that will stand up for these views. Shouldn't the true 99%'ers really be the general public against our current government. Unemployment concern

Jan

Dear Mr. President,

I wanted to tell you that was a great speech. I hope you mean what you say & can make this country better. We the people believe you. I also have a question for you. I lost my job in May, 2011 I am still unemployed, I have been collecting unemloyment, and searching for a job. I haven't had any luck. I am now, on my emergency extension. Which shall end in April. My concern is this, I wanted to know will they give more of an extension to the people that lost their jobs in 2011.. It seems that they gave more of an extension to the earlier years. It hasn't been easy for us, my friend is also out if work, she is only getting 26 weeks. Please, please, I beg you to help us with this concern. It's hard for us, I don't chose or want to be on unemployment. But, it's helping me pay my bills until I can find a job. I am nervous, if I don't get a job by April. What shall I do. Help us with this problem.

Thank you,

Maria  Read more about Unemployment concern

State of the Union

Jan
25

Jan. 25, 2012

Dear Mr. President,

After watching your State of The Union speech last night I felt compelled to write this letter. I have been a Republican all my voting years, but recently have come to question that decision.

I have been closely following the debates and studying each candidate. With this being said I can not truthfully say that at this time I would back any of them as a candidate for President.

I have watched the Congress and the Senate fight like children over key issues that involve the people of the United States and our well being. Hold their checks and see if they would like that.

I am fortunate to not be one of the families who lost our home through the mortgage crisis, but I sincerely attribute that to not buying a home until we could afford a home.

I listen to the Republican party and they do not want to make any allowances for the rich people being taxed their fair share.

My husband works for BAE Systems here in York,Pa. They are a defense contractor and our livelihood depends on them having contracts. It stands to reason that they were making alot of money during the war in Iraq and lots of people benefited from that. A huge cut to defense spending would hurt alot of people at BAE. The Union Workers at BAE strongly supported you in your election campaign for President. Please, look out for these workers now.

Harley Davidson threatened to leave York and they did everything in their power to see that they did not leave York Co.

Harley and BAE are two of the major companies left in this area, having lost AMP, Borg Warner, Caterpillar and many more.

We could not afford to take another huge hit in this area. BAE employees and Harley employees put alot into the York Co. economy.

Most of us own our own homes, drive American made vehicles, buy and purchase American made as much as possible. Why? Because we are proud American Union worker's families who care about the United States of America.

I really appreciated the things you said in your State of the Union message and if the Congress and The Senate would quit fighting like a bunch of children I think we could get it done.

Todd Platts is a wonderful Congressman who has served our District with the best interest of the citizens of Pennsylvania in mind. He visited BAE many times and knows the dedication of these workers.

I can truly say at this point in time Iam really on the fence about voting Republican. We did not had a strong Republican candidate in the past election and I feel we again do not have a strong candidate.

My vote at this time will be based on what party is going to keep my husband employed at 54 years of age and not have him applying for unemployment and losing what we have worked so hard to establish. Read more about State of the Union

Lost my unemployment benefits

Jan
06

President Barack Obama,

I just wonder if the government think we are stupid. I have been looking for a job for 2 years. I have always worked and now my unemployment has run out. I have sent over 3,000 resumes out. Now the government thinks that 2 million people have lost their unemployment benefits that jobs have been created and the unemplyment rate is 8.5%. Now I am forced to go to social services to get food stamps, cash assistance to pay my bills(rent, electric, water) and medical.
This is so sad.

Thank you,

Unemployment-Desperate Single Mother

Dec
25

December 25, 2011

President Barack Obama

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW

Washington, DC 20500

Merry Christmas President Obama,

May GOD Keep You, Bless You and continue to Order Your Steps!

My name is Kasi Crawford and I'm a single mother of two children. My daughter A'meerah is 16 and my son Rashaan is 14. I'm writing you out of desperation and frustration. I lost my job October 22, 2010. I've been receiving unemployment since then and have exhausted my 12 weeks of the State Extended Benefits on December 22, 2012. I've been consistently looking for a job, applying to 25-50 jobs per day. I have not received any job offers to date. I've have also applied for minimum wage jobs and have been told that I'm over qualified for these positions. I've worked since I was 14 years old. I became divorced in 2002. My ex-husband does not pay the child support that was ordered through the state of Georgia. He is behind over $40,000 dollars and resides in another state, which has been a challenge to the state of Georgia to enforce it. I've exhausted all means of trying to collect the support that is owed to my children.

President Obama, I'm pleading and soliciting you for help at this time to extend my unemployment. Currently, I'm receiving $283 dollars of food stamps. I'm scared and mentally drained. I'm a hard working woman who is just trying to support my children. My rent is due on or before January 5th, 2012. If my rent is not paid on or before January 15th, I will be faced with eviction. The thought of being homeless sends chills through my spine and hurts to no end. The $328.00 dollars that I was receiving allowed me to maintain and provide a home for my children, allowing them to continue to grow and focus on school. I have never struggled so much in my life. I believe in you Mr. President, but it angers me that the banks and large corporations received Bail Outs, when We the PEOPLE, who supported you are loosing our jobs, homes and sanity. I'm in tears writing you this letter at 2:27 am on Christmas Day. I am a Faithful woman and I do believe in Miracles. I wasn't able to buy my children anything for Christmas. I thank GOD that they understand what their mother is going through and acknowledges the true meaning of Christmas. All I want for Christmas is to have my unemployment benefit extended until I'm able to find employment so that I can continue to take care of my children.

Mr. President, I'm begging you to re-consider the bill that was passed on December 16, 2011. “Legislation has been enacted to extend the eligibility period of Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC), and State Extended Benefits (SEB), through the week ending December 31, 2011. The new bill did not add more weeks of benefits, but extended the period of time someone could file for EUC or SEB”. It only extends people two additional months that receive Emergency Unemployment Compensation and extends the deadline to apply for (SEB). It does not extend the State Extended Benefits which is what just ended for me. Please have compassion in your heart for me and the people that this bill impacts. I'm at my wits end and trying desperately not to give up. I believe in you and I support you as the President of these United States of America. Please reply to the address below.

God Bless,

Kasi

Unemployed... AGAIN

Dec
01

Mr. President,

Unemployed again...

Yes, two years ago (2009) my husband got unemployed, in Georgia, just because the economic situation!... we lost... well, not lost the Bank of America took our home without give us any chance to keep it, never, never we received a letter from the bank with the aproval or not apoval of the home loan modification, they just never help us. They just took away our house!... And now, after one hard year in NC again, the company make a work force reduction and again unemployed!

We are an immigrant family of 4, my husband, me and two little kids, we are professional with two and three lenguages and this year proudly of being here, we will become citizens!!    We sponsor you but please, We need to believe again that there is a future in this country, one of my son was born here, and now We can't see our future in any other place than USA.    I don't know what is happening in the americans mind, but, looks like  they don't reconizes what they have under their feets!    They don't see the power of the cultural integration.  There are much to do in this country!  THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO IN THIS COUNTRY...  But I'm not sure about this future... Make me believe again!!

Thank you.
