Dear Mr. President,
After watching your State of The Union speech last night I felt compelled to write this letter. I have been a Republican all my voting years, but recently have come to question that decision.
I have been closely following the debates and studying each candidate. With this being said I can not truthfully say that at this time I would back any of them as a candidate for President.
I have watched the Congress and the Senate fight like children over key issues that involve the people of the United States and our well being. Hold their checks and see if they would like that.
I am fortunate to not be one of the families who lost our home through the mortgage crisis, but I sincerely attribute that to not buying a home until we could afford a home.
I listen to the Republican party and they do not want to make any allowances for the rich people being taxed their fair share.
My husband works for BAE Systems here in York,Pa. They are a defense contractor and our livelihood depends on them having contracts. It stands to reason that they were making alot of money during the war in Iraq and lots of people benefited from that. A huge cut to defense spending would hurt alot of people at BAE. The Union Workers at BAE strongly supported you in your election campaign for President. Please, look out for these workers now.
Harley Davidson threatened to leave York and they did everything in their power to see that they did not leave York Co.
Harley and BAE are two of the major companies left in this area, having lost AMP, Borg Warner, Caterpillar and many more.
We could not afford to take another huge hit in this area. BAE employees and Harley employees put alot into the York Co. economy.
Most of us own our own homes, drive American made vehicles, buy and purchase American made as much as possible. Why? Because we are proud American Union worker's families who care about the United States of America.
I really appreciated the things you said in your State of the Union message and if the Congress and The Senate would quit fighting like a bunch of children I think we could get it done.
Todd Platts is a wonderful Congressman who has served our District with the best interest of the citizens of Pennsylvania in mind. He visited BAE many times and knows the dedication of these workers.
I can truly say at this point in time Iam really on the fence about voting Republican. We did not had a strong Republican candidate in the past election and I feel we again do not have a strong candidate.
My vote at this time will be based on what party is going to keep my husband employed at 54 years of age and not have him applying for unemployment and losing what we have worked so hard to establish. Read more about State of the Union
