Dear President Barack Obama,

When you decided to minimize Pell Grant eligibility to 12 semesters you forgot about the young African Americans students who are now seniors. You did not seek to change Colleges and Universities policies, but instead you choose to penalize a group that is struggling to survive in this depleted economy. I know that your decision stems from a financial obligation, but this will only create more of a burden on the economy.

Your plan should have included a waiver to extend the 12 semester eligibility for seniors who needed a minimum of six classes to graduate. Require Universities and Colleges to remove prerequisites for seniors who are about to exhaust there financial eligibility. When a university or colleges amend a curriculum to include additional prerequisites this adds to financial aid bill. Are these amendments absolutely necessary, and to what extent? As soon as you cut the Pell Grant my school also increased tuition this was counter intuitive.

For seniors who need less than six credits to graduate and who are unemployed this spells disaster. In six months these students will be required to start paying back there student loans, and required to look for employment without a degree. Our competitive rights have been taken away from us, and without fair warning. So, I ask you Mr. President was this great for the economy, because it seems like a short term solution. In six months what will happen to the loan market?

Mr. President, I urge you to examine university rights to change curriculum at will policy. Student should only be responsible for meeting degree requirements that are in place when they declare there major. Surely this would reduce federal aid nationwide. Dear President Barack Obama,

Please address discrimination against older workers! At the age of 57 I have found that I am too old to work, and too young to retire. My retirement fund has been hit twice, once with 9/11 and then again with the Great Recession. Please consider lowering taxes on Social Security and retirement withdraws to compensate for all the money we boomers have lost. Something has to be done. How will we survive?

I PAY FOR TAXES AS MOST AMERICANS DO IN OUR COUNTRY . BUT THE GOVT . IS PAYING FOR ARMY FAMILIES TO HAVE UNNECESSARY PLASTIC SURGERY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

I KNOW A LOT OF YOUNG GIRLS THAT ARE GETTING BREAST IMPLANTS, LIPOSUCTION , ARM LIFTS, FILLERS AND SO ON – JUST FOR LOOKS. PLASTIC SURGERY SHOULD ONLY BE FOR MEN AND WOMEN THAT HAS GOT HURT SERVING OUR COUNTRY OR HEALTH PROBLEMS.

WE AMERICANS ARE PAYING FOR THIS FREE UNNECESSARY SERVICE , THAT OUR MONEY NEEDS TO GO TO GOOD USE FOR THE ARMY PEOPLE . PLEASE TAKE THIS SERVICE AWAY AND GIVE THEM MORE PAY THAT WILL AND CAN REALLY HELP OUR ARMY FAMILY'S.......

Here's an example of Essex county's plight. MY wife and my self lost our apartment. She gets SSI and I'm drawing unemployment We went to welfare to ask for emergency help to pay back rent, here's what happened. First the looked at her income which gross is $585.00 and I receive $164.00 every two weeks––that's after child support. They say our combined income is above the standards for emergency help. My rent for a one bedroom for us was $705.00. When we moved into our apartment SSI gross was $851.00. Due to overpayment claims we no longer could afford our apartment. After the first few months in the apartment I had to apply for food stamp assistance. A little while after I was evicted from this apartment and gone back to welfare for further assistance , where I was stopped with a big denial of GA, and or Emergency assistance.

Mind you while all this is taking place I'm in night school trying to go back to college. My major problem is that they said we make too much money for any kind of help.

MY wife has mental instability and I lost my JOB now that I need help for us we sleep in the street. I'm sorry to say the system failed us and many like us . My Name is Anthony. Dear President Barack Obama,

There is a young 13 year old girl in my granddaughters school. Her step father was in her life since she was born. He was killed in Afghanastan last year. He was trying to legally adopt her but the court system lost the paper work before he left! So they had to start over from the beginning!! He died in action before they could get the adoption done.

All this girl wanted was to be this mans legal daughter!!!! We signed petitions to try to get someone to help her make this wish come true. But it didn't work!!!! She has legally changed her name to his, but it is not the same!!! Isn't there anything you can do to help this young girl???? Her biological dad is all for the adoption so is her step fathers family!!!!

PLEASE make this young girls dream come true!!!!! Her step dad was stationed at Camp Lejeune North Carolina.

Dear President Barack Obama,

I'm a child without medical coverage all of my life only because my father was a veteran.

If it had been my mother who was in the war, all my birth defects would be covered. How can this be just?

I'm Catherine, and I want justice for all of the children of veterans who were denied coverage. Why? Because it was our fathers who fought for what the government told them to do. And they did it with pride until they came home.

Dear President Barack Obama,

I'll just go straight to the point. Where is the Justice in Texas? One of your so called ministers who lived in Alamo, TX killed a Labrador with a machete. The Labrador was given to an Iraq Veteran after he finished his contract with the U.S. Army. I won't say any single word to judge that so called Minister. You can read the story, and judge it for yourself.

Here is the plea from the owner: "On May 10, 2012, my dog Mijo was killed by a minister in a public street using a machete. Mijo had gotten out of his leash to be with a female dog when one of my neighbors of a couple houses down crossed the street with a machete and struck him 4 times. He was struck 2 in the face, 1 splitting his nose in half, the other one on his mouth, and 2 on his thigh. Mijo limped his way back but could only make it to the front porch where he died.

When I found his body, I knew he was dead but I kept petting him asking him to wake up and please come home with me. I confronted the neighbor and he said he killed the dog with the machete. When asked why he did not respond, the Sheriff was notified but didn't even look remotely interested in the report.

I have called the office several times and they told me that they haven't even gotten an investigator to look over the case. I can't press charges until that is done. Two news stations were contacted but told me that they can't do too much because it's still under investigation.

Dear President Barack Obama,

I understand that our nation's economy weak, but the consequences on the school district are devastating. In two years from now, 64 elementary, middle, and high schools in Philadelphia will be closed and SOLD to the highest bidding charter school organization. My school alone has 3,500 students that will not all be accepted into the new charter school, as the school is only built for 2,000 students. This closing also disbands our one and only NORTHEAST HIGHSCHOOL MAGNET PROGRAM'S "PROJECT SPARC". This program includes an ACTUAL NASA SATELLITE donated to our high school for simulated space flight.

This isn't right, we need someone to step up for us students who chose a better education for ourselves. In charter schools, they select who THEY want, excluding anyone who performs below their standards. Anyone they don't want will be forced to go to the remaining public schools which will be farther than their neighborhoods and into unfamiliar neighborhoods. The only other option would be for he parents to pay for catholic schools, restricting their right to have free education provided by their government.

I need you to influence our city's leaders to support public education and help our people see the devastating effects of this plan formed by the SRC. I'm not writing this for only my school, but for all of the students that hope for a better education, but are being prohibited by Mayor Nutter. He said he was going to fix the Philadelphia school system, but he is destroying it.

Dear President Barack Obama,

What the heck happened? All of a sudden and without any notice, my unemployment is being discontinued. I have many bills to pay and have been trying to make it during this extremely rough time for my family. The unemployment I received was 25% of my salary when I was let go from a 15 year job, but it helped make the mortgage payment and feed my family.

Now I don't know what we will do. I hate to think that bankruptcy and moving out of state may be on the horizon! We didn't even have time to try and plan for anything like this. The only reason California's unemployment is showing a lower rate is because so many people have reached their limit for unemployment and have now fallen off your radar. Too many people are still unemployed. There are more people begging for money on corners than ever before.

Your decision to terminate the unemployment, when our economy is really NOT better for most of us, will cause a terrible burden on many people who were counting on this money. Please do not take it away and continue with the original extensions as we have been granted. I worked many years and have paid a lot into the system, and now when I need it most, it is failing me.
