Dear Mr. President,   I just watched Ms. Blige on YouTube, singing for you at your Inaurgration; I saw you as a real person interacting with Mrs. President and y'all's child and I have come to admire and believe in you.   I do not often agree with you, Sir, but you own my respect, not just for the Office but for your own true self.  You can lean on me.   Respectfully, ~Kate (Mrs. Paul) Thompson p.s. we are your consituents and WE VOTE.  Thank you for taking the time (or one of your staffers') to read this. May the Lord bless you, Mr. President, and God Bless America.

A Faithful Follower

Dear Mr. President, When I heard you speak at the 2008 Decocratic Convention, I was blown away!!!  I said to my husband excitedly, "There is the next President of the United States."  For the first time in my life (I am 70 years old), I became interested in our Country's politics. For many years I felt like an outsider in my own Country.  This feeling began, not with the election of George W. Bush, but with his decision to go to war with Irac with the support of Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice.  I watched your campaign with baited breath and when you were elected I celebrated unabashedly. I appreciate the full plate that awaited you upon taking office and keep you in my daily prayers. Currently I am trying to follow your attempts to bring about meaningful health care reform and have become increasingly frustrated with the many politicians who put election results ahead of the needs of the American people. Many of the problems we see are, for me, the result of not using public funds to campaign and therefore the inclination of many politicians to respond to the contributions of special interest groups. In other words, it's all about the money. In light of this opinion, I would implore you to forge ahead with the goals that brought you to the White House and bring us closer to a single payor system that is more affordable and available to all Americans. God Bless You, A Faithful Follower

DON'T COMPROMISE AWAY OUR HEALTH RIGHTS

Sep

Dear Mr. President,   We volunteered, called voters, organized and financially supported your candidacy so that we could return to an America that cares about people. Please don't betray us by compromizing away our chance for real change to help our people by having a public option (like medicare for all) for us.

We Cannot Afford it!

True I have very little knowledge of the exact changes being purposed by the Obama administration for our healthcare system.  This is due to the fact that Obama as well as the congress have concealled from the public what these exact changes are.  However,  I am against change of this magnitude as the majority of the public are satisfied with their present healthcare options.  Unfortunately the Obama administration has placed this country in such extreme debt that we are certainly not able to sustain extreme change unless we are talking about rationing healthcare or playing class warfare and having the wealthy and small and large business pay for it.  I wonder whether this whole idea of change in the countries healthcare system,  is not simply a power grab by the white house,  for control of such a large part of the countries economy.  Obama can talk about coverage for all, portability, rejections for preconditions and  better quality at a cheaper price but to not mention torte reform means he is totally disingenuous.

First of all let me say congrats on becoming the next United States President. I know that are country is honored to have you. But the reason why I am writing this letter is not to just let you know I am glad you are our next president, but to let you of the trouble that my town called clewiston and the rest of Hendry County is having. You see, this small town may not be the best place anyone would want to live, and it might not have everything a person could dream of , but the one thing that this town has is the hope, faith and strength of or schools. From elementary all the way to High School. Though do to the economic status we are in dieing need of help, and I know your plate right now is over flowing with calls for help but this one I think is more than just a call, it is a prayer that over 5,000 people are praying. Praying that the needs of this small and quiet town, and the needs of other towns just like us who are dealing with this crisis of loosing teacher get are prayers answered. I am in 12th grade and today in economics class I learned that this year alone that their will be over fifty teachers that will be loosing their jobs and that 1,000,000 will be cut from the schools budget just by the end of this year alone and next year 5,000,000 more will be cut. But nothing is being cut from the prisons and jails. Is it a contridiction that prisoners who are murders, rapest, abusers, child melesters get better treatment the the education of kids who are about to go outin the real world and this is probably not just in my town alone this is all over america. So I ask , no I pray that you help nt only me but every other student in america , so we can ge the education that we deserve. Thank you

Dear Barack,

Barack Obama, congratulations of your win. I honestly feel the undertaking you have acquired can only be done through new eyes. You appealed to the belief in all of us that America is the greatest country in the world, and for this I respect you immensely. This will be the hardest challenge of your life, and I don't think there will be monstrous accomplishments in your first term, however I know you will help pave the best path to be taken. In addition a presidential campaign will never be the same. Yours was a movement. Remembering what was in the air days before the election could bring me to tears. The hope, the beauty, the realization that we have the power to change! Thank you Barack Obama. Yes we can heal this nation, yes we can.

Dear President Obama

Congratulations. I just wanted you to know that while your campaign promises were large, and your message far reaching beyond what many deemed possible; my expectations for your first term are low. Not because I do not think you are capable of doing great things, nor is it because of any cynicisms or sour grapes on my part. I proudly voted for you, sir. No, my low expectations are due to the incredibly low bar set by your predecessor. If you manage to go the first four years without choking on a pretzel, or mispronouncing the word 'Nuclear' I will consider your first term a huge success. I am sure I'm not alone in feeling that we as Americans have reached a new low. In 8 short (though painful) years President Bush has squandered over 200 years of American pride and reputation building. It is by this level of incompetence that your -and all future Administrations- will be measured. If you can manage to undo the damage done to our economy, foreign relations, constitution and environment than by all means please do so. But as far as I am concerned there is nowhere to go from here but up, you would have to accidentally nuke an American city to out stupid President Bush. So don't let the pressure get to you too much. I wish you the best of luck. Congratulations once again. -Josh

Loose Change

Dec

Dear Mr. President Elect, Welcome Barack! We the people salute your coming into office. You have surpassed seemingly insurmountable obstacles in your campaign to become the first African turned American President of the United States. Thanks to your winning of our highest office, in four years Arnold Schwarzenegger can run and actually win. Never mind being born in another country - that stipulation of the job seemingly no longer matters. It is a refreshing change to have a President who, no matter what their policy is, can be elected solely biased on minority demographic voters. I digress; you will bring change, that’s for sure. No one will pay attention to your socialist agenda, only focus on what type of dog you’re going to put into the white house or if you’ve quite smoking yet. What a change. You have now opened the door for all Marxist foreigners to make themselves at home on the Hill. Needless to say, the campaign trail must have been a difficult one. We Americans truly enjoyed the spectacle. Reality T.V. at its greatest. Every debate was identical, which was nice if anyone happened to miss either of the other two. You were very successful in drilling your points into our heads, as well as diverting people’s attention away from the truly pressing issues such as your stance on healthcare and business. You believe that business should be taxed harder, making it impossible for them to give pay increases or to expand their operations, but that’s okay because you’re going to implement thousands of new labor jobs to build infrastructure with us footing the bill. Excellent CHANGE! You wish to socialized medicine by providing cheap medical care to everyone, but you’re going to bury the cost in higher taxes that would surpass current average medical insurance costs. Great CHANGE! These policies will tighten the belts of every American, but that’s just what we need. We’re all obese as it is so thank you, Obama! Already starting the healthcare program. Lighten our wallets and waistline. So, welcome; to the Obama-nation. The people voted for change. And you’re bringing it. You campaigned for change. And its coming. And after you reign as President, I’ll be campaigning for change……in a little tin cup. A.L. 9467
