State of affairs

Dear President Obama:

I feel frightened and concerned about our country.  Usually, I feel that things will work out in the long run, but lately I feel I am losing this hope.  I don't blame you.  I blame the people we have been elected to represent us.  Who are they representing, really?  Is it the financial institutions, the guy who gives them the most money, the ideas that will win them the votes, or is it just to oppose the opposite side, so they WON'T win?

We talk a lot about bullying in our schools.  It seems to be happening in businesses, in Congress, and maybe even the White House.  Isn't governnment to protect the people, and to help them if they can, to set policies and laws that keep our society running orderly and with care for others?

I turned on the television this morning and caught the news. This is something I try to avoid because it just makes me feel hopeless and helpless.  what did I see? A story about a man who slaughtered his children with a hatchet, and killed himself and his two little boys by blowing up his house.  He sent emails right before this all happened saying "goodbye, and I'm sorry.". People scratch their heads and say what happened?  There were signs and yet no one had the courage to permanently remove these children.  Where are the laws that protect innocent children? Where are the laws that put criminals in jail? Where are the laws that give mental health treatments and medications for the mentally ill?  Where is care for the homeless?  Where is care for those who suffer with illnesses and cannot get health coverage?  Where is the outrage for the institutions that take out insurance on their ill employees? Where are the laws to stop this?

how long can we turn a blind eye to all our people who need food, shelter, and care?  How long can we continue to send money into the pockets of those who already have,, while ignoring those who don't?

I know there are no easy answers.  If it were up to me, I would fire every member of congress and start over with people who really want to try and solve these problems, not just win an election.

I pray for all of the politicians who represent us now.  I pray for you Mr. Obama,a because I know you struggle with so many things.  I know that you would like to do the right thing and I feel your heart is in the right place.  I am sorry that Congress fights you and doesn't seem to want to work with you. I pray for all the homeless, the forgotten ones, the children, the sick, that God will grace this world with His presence and will send His Spirit upon us all.  We need His strength and His courage to win this war.

Blessings to you, Mr. President and to all of your family.  I hope you win again in the next election.  I hope you can stand upr for what is right, Nd know that some of us really are out here, and we are hoping for you!
