Birth Control Prescriptions and Information in Catholic Hospitals

Dear Mr. President:

I am a Catholic in spirit these days and I don't go to Mass. I'm 69 years old and have seen enough of life to realize that people who are not prepared to take responsibility for their congregations as they; excoriate the failings of their people from their pulpits on high, so totally removed from the everyday struggles of the rest of us. These Churches and religious organizations continue not to take any responsibility for the failings of their congregations. Until the Catholic Church is ready to take on the physical, economic, spiritual and moral responsibility of struggling families and illegitimate children, seeing to their nurture and education until age 18 like the rest of us have been doing and they finally distribute the responsibility for children born out of wedlock in their congregations equally between men and women who stray from their teachings.

My position is that the hospitals, churches and centers , not accept any funding, whatsoever from our government. That hospitals give up their nonprofit status paying their fair share of taxes. That they publicly publicize their positions on these matters to all the people they serve before they take them on as patients, giving them a "Choice." Until these institutions realize that they live in a democracy where "choice" is not a dirty word, . I wholeheartedly agree with administration's; position regarding the necessity of the Catholic Hospitals and centers write birth control prescriptions and give birth control information pay the freight for the stances they promote The Catholic Church and any church organization is totally wrong in not giving people access to birth control. Many intact Catholic families have broken up and divorced because young Catholic men and women haven't been educated enough and/or not prepared enough or shown the way to shoulder the responsibility of unwanted children.

Therefore.one finds them leaving their families and the mothers are left to cope with the total responsibility of raising their children and this is wrong Our society can no longer depend on chance while we now have the scientific; means not only to fix the problem but eradicate it through education. God has given us the intellect, the desire and thankfully the means to make this a better world and the "SIN" is to throw this away when society can be benefited.

Presently, there remain too many children and their mothers who continue to be sentenced to a life of deprivation, and poverty poor health due to poor birth control access. This is the " SIN" when we have the means at hand and within our control to take that suffering away. Not having access to birth control takes a toll on our society's well-being. By not having access to birth control, the health and education or lack thereof deprive individuals who can be its contributors with the capacity to give something back because they are not forever fighting the circumstances of their birth. It is up to the Catholic Church and any other church or center who promote these views to finally take the complete responsibility for the healthy upbringing of these children born out of wedlock in their congregations by providing the total health insurance themselves, physical and economic aid and education for the unfortunate children who are the result of indiscriminate sex; Until the Catholic Church does this, they should have no say as they shift their responsibility to the rest of us.

Claire
