BANK OF AMERICA - HOME MODIFICATION PROCESS NIGHTMARE

Dear President Obama,

I am writing this letter to let you and the public know what nightmare it is to try to work a Modification Plan with Bank of America. Mr. President I ask for your assistance in helping me and all others in my same situation.  I have contacted Bank of America and applied for a Home Modification Plan, have supplied all the documentation requested of me since October 2011 and have stayed in touch continuously by calling 2 to 3 times per week.  My file was assigned to a Customer Relations Manager in November and since thank I cannot speak to no one other than this Manager.  When calling any number associated with Bank of America once I enter my loan number it directs me to this Manager who keeps telling me the same thing over and over again which is that my loan is in review and with the underwriters.   In December I called and talked to this Customer Relations Manager and she mentioned everything was fine and that no other documents or actions were needed from my part.  One week later I receive a letter from Bank of America advising me that my loan was no longer under them that it had been sold to anothet lender effective 12/15/11 and that I should contact them if I had any questions after this date.  I immediately called my Customer Relations Manager and asked what was going on that she had just mentioned everything was fine and now I was receiving this letter.  She looked up the information on her computer supposedly and mentioned she had no reports on her notes.  She asked for the dates of the letter and for me to read the letter to her.  She put my call on hold, upon returning she notified me that the information I had was correct that my note had been sold and Bank of America was no longer my lender.  I asked why she hadn't mentioned this when I spoke to her the previous week and why she didn't see it on her computer screen when she checked.

She mentioned the information had still not been updated therefore she was unaware this had happened.  I asked my Manager so what am I supposed to do now?  She replied well there is nothing we (Bank of America) can do for you at this time, you need to wait until after December 15, and contact the lender referenced on your letter.  Very disappointed I aked so will my paperwork be transferred to the new lender for follow up on my modification.  She replied, no we don't transfer nothing you are basically back to sqauare one you need to call this lender and find out how to go about applying for a modification and submit whatever paperwork they ask of me.  During the first week of January 2012 I receive another letter from Bank of America stating that I was sent a letter notifying me that my loan had been sold but that I needed to disregard that letter and that my loan would continue with Bank of America.  I immediately contacted my Customer Relations Manager who said that is correct there was a mistake your loan was not sold.  At that point I ask so now what how much longer is this going to take, she mentioned I just had to wait and be patient.  Following week I call again and asked the status of my modification she replies it is all the same, getting upset I ask well can you check because you keep telling me the same thing, she than checks and tells me they need a copy of my paycheck with the company name on it because the advice I submitted did not show the name of the company.

I immediately faxed that to her and mentioned how that would have been an ovesight if I wouldn't have insisted on her checking.  I have continued calling 2 to 3 times each week since and to this date this Customer Relations Manager tells me nothing different.  She actually mentioned to that she could not and I quote "light up any fire for me" that she was only giving me the information she had.  I again asked why does it take this long, is this the reason many of us homeowners are losing our homes because by the time they see our files it is already too late.  She said they are overwhelmed with cases just like mine and everyone is getting the same information.

Mr President so what was the purpose of the money you gave Bank of America to assist home owners in need of modifications?  Is this what this money is paying for, they hired these Customer Relations Managers to act as the points of contact between the Home Owner and the Lender to answer the calls yet give us no positive feedback?  So what do we do I ask, just wait as she said and find out tomorrow our homes have been foreclosed.  Please Mr. President I ask you look into this and help us the American Taxpayers in need of assistance due to economic impact.  Thank you.
