Orwell Was Right.

Obama's 30,000 "surge" in Afghanistan proves that "war is peace."  The old propaganda machine and an upright chin, plus pontificating words, prove that Orwell was right.  Newspeak, right here, in 2009, to justify another bogus war in the name of something or other.

He was right, but the three giant superstates of the novel, were paralleled by the two world blocs, the Communist one, with China included in the fifties, leadered by the Soviet Union and the free world bloc, we could say, leadered by de USA. Non-aligned countries and others played the neutral polarity, not exactly like in 1984. Of course, a person in Occident in 1955 would have thought that that situation could last a century or more. This is the psychological basis for this depressing novel. Even in the eighties, after perestroika and glasnost, it was thought thas East Germany could last another thirty years at least.
