Automation is the key to contract negotiations and perhaps the greatest stimulus package to our economy.

President Barack Obama,

At any given moment, in the free world, you will find many strikes and lockouts. They are the equivalent to a spanner or a brick being thrown into the spokes of the wheel, surely effecting the efficiency of our economy by bringing the turn of progress to a halt.Since Prime Minister Sir John A. McDonald, gave the trade union in Canada, the right to strike, back in 1872, things have changed considerably.Today our communities are economically linked, so that many business and people will be effected by other people's strikes and lockouts. Many people and businesses through no fault of their own, will lose their homes, businesses and jobs, all because of someone else's strike or lockout. We know that the Ottawa bus strike, which lasted 54 days and ended this past February, has been estimated by their experts, at costing the City of Ottawa, in excess of 400 million dollars.I wonder how much this London, Ontario bus strike, will cost the people of London? Too much obviously! Can you imagine the cost of all the strikes and lockouts to the tax payers and governments, of the world? I'll bet it's a staggering amount in excess of hundreds of billions of dollars, lost each year to none productivity, like strikes & lockouts. It appears that all the strikes and lockouts create a condition I refer to as the Russian Roulette style economic disaster.Until the governments of the world fix the problem through legislation, we need automation, where we could incorporate by consent of both sides, into the negotiated contract, the full formula of negotiations, including for example 3 stages of negotiations, starting with talks, followed by mediation, ending by binding arbitration. This system could be negotiated in the contract, to run continuously making negotiated settlements automatic and would make strikes and lockouts a thing of the past.

We can be civilized and put the needs of the many ahead of the needs of the one or the few.Of course we can take the attitude, that this is an impossible dream that can never happen. It seems to me, if the strikes and lockouts are costing us a fortune, we really can't afford not to look at other alternatives. Longer term contracts would help to alleviate the congestion of too many short term contracts, example 12, 24 and 36 months. If too many contracts expire around the same time, it could derail the economic efficiency, within our economy and I suspect, it may cause a drop or down ward trend or may even cause a crash in the stock market. These questions need to be addressed. The time has come to establish a committee to study this economic phenomena. This is most definitely an out of the box forward thinking radical master plan... idea...no doubt! This idea could yet prove to be one of the greatest economic stimulus packages to our economy, the world has ever seen. The financial damage to millions of people losing their jobs, businesses and homes etc., all because of someone else's strike or lockout, is absolutely crazy and should be addressed by our governments immediately. Other businesses over the years have turned to automation, to reduce labour cost and create a far greater financial and economical efficiency.I believe the need for automation by regulating and directing conduct and contract negotiations, is through legislation, either federally or provincially/state/wide, etc..,  needs to be created. The purpose of this email is to arouse curiosity and direct attention to this subject.

I hope you believe, I have brought to your attention, something of importance and I wish to encourage dialogue on the matter.Should you have any further questions regarding the automation of contract negotiations or anything relevant to the subject, please do not hesitate in contacting me at (519) 636-2806 or of course by email.Below please find a link to a news story you should find very interesting:
