Homelessness

Dear Mr. President,
My name is Jessica. I am a 27 year old from Houston, TX. I'm not really too political but i'm always looking for a new way to help my community. I wanted to write to you and get your thoughts on an idea. I once heard someone say that the reason no one deals with homeless people is because the government cannot make money off of them. I don't think this is true. So here is my thought. I want to put them in a hotel. Two people per room. They are responsible for cleaning it everyday and subject to inspection of it. Also, it will be monitored 24/7/365. only one way in or out. That way everyone will always have to check in. I will find an employer that is willing to hire them and then, once they start working, they can pay 200 dollars a month to stay there. They will have to take a drug test to make sure they are clean. Also, I want to provide conseling and financial classes to them so they can get back on their feet. In reality, once they can get back on their feet and have a stable job, they will have to pay taxes again. Therefore, the government would make the money in the end. I feel very passionate about this. I am looking for non- profit organizations and other companies that would be willing to help me get started. I believe this would help so many people get off the street. I've lived in a homeless shelter before and it is awful. But a lot of people that stay there do simply because they thinks no one cares at all. They think that their life is destined for failure no matter what. I want to be the person that can show them that someone cares about them. I want to be the person that says I can help you. I want to be able to help those people so that the rest of their families can be proud of them and acknowledge that they exist. I don't know if you've ever been homeless, but it makes you feel like nothing. You have nothing and you are nothing. If people felt like they were something and felt like they belonged, we would all live in a much happier place.
Please think about this. It would really help a lot of people. Homeless people would be safe and our streets would be cleaner. I would really like your input on this subject. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope it was worth it.
